Beaufort has over 300 years’ worth of rich history. During this 2-hour walking tour of Beaufort’s historic district, you will learn how it was explored by the Spanish, the French, and the English, and the cultural influence of its beautiful antebellum homes, scenic views, friendly local charm, plus stories about the stories of iconic Hollywood movies, such as Forest Gump, and Rules of Engagement.

This 2-hour walking tour goes through the in-depth history of Beaufort’s beautiful, antebellum town and stories of the Civil War. Dr. Folsom will engage visitors to imagine a wealthy, aristocratic lifestyle – the center of the Secession movement, suddenly occupied by thousands of soldiers, a massive wartime hospital system, and the pathway to freedom for slaves that could get there.

This 1-hour tour features a Yamaha Concierge golf cart that will take you to sites where Hollywood stars stayed. See locations surrounding Beaufort such as The Gump Medical Center, which was funded by Forrest’s earnings while running the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. Also, see the National Cemetery where The Great Santini was buried and the bridge from Forrest Gump during his cross-country run.

During this 1.5-hour tour, view the historic Point where Pat lived and wrote his parents’ gravesite and locations connected to the films, The Prince of Tides and The Great Santini. After the tour, visit the Conroy Center where artifacts, including his writing desk, the Great Santini’s flight jacket, and the handwritten prologue to The Prince of Tides can be seen.
