You will begin your adventure at our Idaho Springs Outpost, where you can check in, receive your zipline gear, and get the zipline safety rundown on our ”practice line”. We then drive you most of the way up the mountainside of our nine acre property and from there take a ten minute hike to our first platform. All of our platforms are built into natural cliffs and treetops, truly a sight to behold.     • You drive the snowmobile and are responsible for your diving ability and the choices you make while driving. We try to get you into 1 or more open meadows and find great spots to take pictures.
    • We take pictures of you and your party with your phone/camera.
    • We assist with people that get stuck (you get to help too-it’s fun).
    • We don’t allow hill climbing, excessive speeds, or reckless driving on our guided tour.
    • We bring you back to the lodge, swap stories about our adventure, give you a high five and answer any questions you have about the Grand Lake community.

  • Start your snowmobile rental from our location in Grand Lake CO, right into the Arapahoe National Forest. The North Supply Kiosk (Part of the Stillwater OHV Trail System) is located outside our gate.
  • We are open daily 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during our Summer/Winter season. Rentals must be returned by 5:00 p.m.
  • We rent snowmobiles November 25th- April 1st (weather permitting). Early and Late Season riding is all weather and snow depth dependent. The Grand Lake Trailgroomers have minimum snow depths that are required to groom trails. Signage of trails and meadows are provided by the Grand Lake Trailgroomers and they must be on the mountain to allow for safe snowmobiling.
  • Our snowmobiles cannot be ridden on Shadow Mountain Reservoir, Grand Lake, or Lake Granby.
  • Our snowmobiles cannot be ridden on Colorado State Highways.
  • Our snowmobiles cannot be ridden on any paved roads. All county roads must be 100% covered by snow to be used.

When a snowmobile overheats without proper cooling, the risk of catastrophic engine failure and melting hi-fax is always possible and the customer is responsible for that.

  • Tours start promptly at the top of the hour.
  • Plan to be on the tour at the Argo for an hour and a half to two hours for the full experience. Each professionally guided tour of the Argo Mill and Tunnel takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. A gold panning lesson and experience, which lasts about 20 minutes, is also included with every Argo Mill and Tunnel tour.
  • For the safety and protection of our young visitors, all children under 40 inches tall on the Argo Mill Tour must be accompanied by an adult who holds their hand or carries them through the tunnel.

You can explore the beauty of the mighty Colorado River at Winding River Resort. With the excellent trail guides, you can experience the scenic trails of Rocky Mountain National Park on horseback, with views filled with flowers, incredible wildlife, gentle flowing streams, and the Colorado River. Whether you’re new to horses or an experienced rider, this trail ride is fun for everyone!

At Winding River Resort, there’s no shortage of fun activities to try! Enjoy a Hayride pulled by a beautiful team of Percheron horses to the Sasperilla Saloon! On this one and a half hour hayride, you’ll get to see incredible views of the continental divide, incredible wildlife, and mountain views! Marshmallows and root beer will be served around the campfire.

You can take a thirty-minute walk with your child and one of the Winding River Resort horses through the beautiful property with views of wildflowers, mountains, and the river. This is a great way to give your young cowboys and cowgirls their first horseback riding experience! Pony rides only are for children ages 2-5 old. This is the perfect intro to riding for young children!
